ACWA Power Chairman: Shandong Leads in Desalination, Eyes Deeper Cooperation

At the Qingdao Multinationals Summit on June 19, 2025, Saleh Al Khabti, China Chairman of ACWA Power, praised Shandong Province for its leading position in seawater desalination and role in China’s high-quality economic development.

He said Shandong’s strong port infrastructure, energy supply chain, and innovation ecosystem make it a key region for global energy cooperation. With water scarcity worsening globally, desalination will become a critical technology.

Al Khabti expressed hopes to deepen collaboration with local governments and companies, promoting sustainable energy and water development through technology and international cooperation.

ACWA Power, a Saudi leader in energy and water, is expanding in China, focusing on renewables, desalination, and green hydrogen.

The Qingdao summit gathered hundreds of global business leaders to discuss energy security, green transition, and international partnerships.
